![]() Thanks guys!, not sure if I shared last years paint project.here's how it come out.I used Deep tripple black base, brilliant silver metalic for the flame work, and candy apple red, all Custom Shop paints and love the results. Automotive base coat 500 Color Blender, One Gallon SMR-3500. In this case I would be using a significant amount to carry and burry the flake. We have excellent luck spraying our pearl paint, candy paint, chameleon paint, metal Flake, and temperature change pigments in products such as PPG’s DBC-500 color blender, but we understand that many of our customers are using Dupont’s color blender or just any old clear binder. If that happens I just spray one more coat of the DBC 500 over everthing before I clear. This blending agent is compatible with most basecoat systems and can be reduced with standard and reactive reducers. I have had parts sit longer than that before I am ready to spry my final clear. SC-500 Color Blender is a universal blending product that can be used as a wet-bed sealer, lock-down clear, cut-in clear, mid-coat for tri-coats, graphics and basecoat blender. This will also give you a 24 hour work time. I bought a qrt (forget what I paid) but I use it for smaller projects to project art work before moving on. I use PPG and House of Kolor I always spray one coat of DBC 500 Color Blender over everthing before I start to mask the flames. Makes 2 GALLONS of Sprayable Base Clear perfect for mixing our pearls, Candies, Flakes, Thermochromics, and Glow in the dark pigments. I use PPG DBC 500 color blender for mixing with the candy concentrates to make my candy colors and then reduce as needed to flow through the airbrush properly. Just fyi, I used PPG DBC500 color blender which we all know is top shelf stuff. I'm going to assume not all color blenders perform the same, but would like some of your thoughts on brands for color blender to use. for carrying the flake, I am not going to use my expensive clear, but rather use a color blender. ![]() what are some inexpensive alternatives for cleanup? I don't want to waste my medium reducer for cleaning up the gun and other tools during the project.Ģ. This guy is a fiber glass expert and will also be adding his own 3D flames to his tank, which I will be doing a black base/old school heavy silver metal flake with the black cherry candy over that.ġ. (adding VM44xx to a to unreduced color or 4 (by weight) to a ready-to-spray container of DBC, DBC500, basecoat color or blender). So I am ramping up for this winters paint project for a customer who wants marble affects on a black base, then black cherry candy over that.
